Every journey begins with a single moment of curiosity.

For me, it all started while I was exploring the world of leopard geckos. During my search, I came across a breeder who also kept and sold isopods. At the time, I didn’t know much about them. I simply thought they looked unique—tiny, fascinating, and surprisingly cute—but I had no idea what role they played or why people kept them.

Over the next few weeks, I kept seeing isopods everywhere. The more I came across them, the more curious I became. I started watching videos, reading care guides, and learning about their importance in bioactive ecosystems and the growing hobby surrounding them.

What began as curiosity quickly turned into genuine passion.

Eventually, I decided to order my very first colony: Armadillidium Magic Potion.

While waiting for them to arrive, I spent hours researching how to build the perfect enclosure. Inspired by photos I found online, I created my first setup—a small round glass terrarium. I thought it looked beautiful and would make the perfect home.

When my first isopods finally arrived, I couldn’t stop looking at them. They were even cuter than I had imagined, and I was amazed by their tiny details and personalities. It was a moment I’ll never forget.

It didn’t take long to realize that my first enclosure wasn’t as practical as I had hoped. Caring for the colony was difficult, so I rehoused them into a more suitable enclosure where they could thrive. That experience taught me an important lesson: in this hobby, learning never stops.

As my passion grew, so did my collection. Before bringing home new species, I prepared more enclosures, making sure every colony would have a proper home from day one. Soon, those few containers became shelves filled with carefully maintained colonies.

To keep everything organized, I bought simple shoe racks that eventually became the first version of my isopod room. As the collection continued to expand, I invested in better equipment—not only for husbandry but also for sharing the hobby with others. I built a small photography and unboxing station, purchased a mini light box for cleaner product photos, and added macro equipment to capture the incredible details of each species.

One night, while thinking about everything I had learned and how much I had fallen in love with the hobby, I had an idea.

Why not create something of my own?

That simple thought became The Crawl Co. What started as a small page dedicated to sharing my passion for isopods has grown into something much bigger, a place where hobbyists can discover healthy, well-cared-for isopods, learn more about these amazing creatures, and become part of a growing community.

Today, my collection has grown far beyond what I ever imagined. The setup has evolved from a single glass terrarium into a dedicated isopod room designed to provide the best possible care for every colony.

Looking back, every enclosure, every upgrade, every success, and every mistake has helped shape this journey.
